NYS breaks silence on delayed Savings payment Concerns
The National Youth Service has issued an official statement through Mr. Jamlick M. Chabari, MBS, Deputy Commandant General for Paramilitary Training and National Service, addressing concerns about ex-members' savings allowances. The Service acknowledged recent social media discussions regarding payment delays and reassured all former members that no funds are being unlawfully withheld. According to the statement released on April 16, 2025, all payments are being processed in strict compliance with established regulations, with any delays solely for verification purposes to ensure accuracy in disbursements.
To provide direct clarification, the Service will host a special engagement forum on April 30, 2025, at its Nairobi headquarters. Mr. Chabari emphasized that this forum will allow former NYS members to raise concerns and receive personalized updates about their payments. The Service has already begun notifying individuals whose savings have been processed about their specific payment dates. This proactive measure demonstrates the organization's commitment to resolving the matter transparently and efficiently.
The National Youth Service appreciated former members' understanding and patience during this verification period. "We remain fully dedicated to the welfare of all our discharged members," stated Mr. Chabari in the press release. For further inquiries, former members are encouraged to contact the Service directly at commandant.general@nys.go.ke or visit the Nairobi headquarters for assistance.
