Since joining the National Youth Service in 2017, my journey has been one of growth, learning, and fulfillment. Initially motivated by a desire to serve my community and country, I soon realized the profound impact NYS would have on my life. Through various nation-building initiatives—including environmental conservation and advocacy for education and health awareness—I worked alongside youth, community leaders, and government officials, gaining firsthand insight into societal challenges. A pivotal moment in my service was receiving sponsorship for a medical course, which not only provided essential healthcare skills but also deepened my appreciation for health as a cornerstone of national prosperity.

My journey at N.Y.S EI has been transformative, shaping me into the telecommunications engineer I am today. From the first day, the institution offered me not only a solid foundation in theory but also practical exposure that prepared me for the real-world challenges of the telecom industry. The hands-on labs, collaborative projects, and access to cutting-edge technology were invaluable. The professors were not only experts in their fields but also mentors who genuinely cared about my growth. Fresh Graduate

I vividly remember the day I joined the Service on 1st July 2021. My life turned into a new leaf. It has been a journey of physical, emotional, and spiritual growth, discipline, resilience, learning, and teamwork. I am a proud Service Woman and an alumna of the National Youth Service. During my time in the Service, I learnt how to serve the community with diligence, commitment, and humility. Volunteering has shaped me into a responsible citizen and a dependable leader. The Service also equipped me with technical skills. I am now able to make architectural drawings, design, and build houses, among other practical abilities that will help me in shaping my career path. The Service has instilled in me values that will guide me throughout my career and personal life—patriotism, integrity, hard work, and selfless service. When I joined the Service in 2016, I never imagined how far the experience would take me. The training was intense, demanding, and life-changing, but it shaped me into a disciplined, focused, and resilient individual. Each challenge prepared me not just for survival, but for service to my country and to humanity. The Service gave me a strong foundation of teamwork, courage, and technical skills. I learnt to put others before myself, to act swiftly in emergencies, and to always remain calm under pressure. These values have guided me into my career as a Firefighter at the Kenya Airports Authority, where saving lives and protecting property is my daily responsibility. I am proud to say that my journey with the National Youth Service was the stepping stone that made me who I am today. The spirit of patriotism, sacrifice, and selfless service continues to inspire my work. Through its dedication to youth empowerment, NYS gave me the opportunity to study Aeronautical Engineering (Airframe and Engine Option) at the NYS Engineering Institute. The program was both technically rigorous and character-building, instilling discipline, resilience, teamwork, and a strong sense of national service. These values and skills formed the foundation for my career growth. Today, I work as an Aircraft Technician at Qatar Airways, contributing to global aviation safety and excellence — a success I credit to the transformative training, mentorship, and opportunities provided by NYS. Today, I am an agripreneur and agricultural consultant, working with farmers to promote modern farming, agribusiness, and sustainable food production. My egg business and consultancy not only support my family but also create jobs and uplift communities. Through my work, I live out the NYS spirit — serving with dignity, empowering others, and building strong communities. Joining the Service in July 2021 was one of the most defining moments of my life. It was more than just training—it was a journey of transformation that strengthened me physically, mentally, and spiritually. As an Ebenezer chairlady, I had the privilege of guiding others in faith while also growing in leadership, humility, and service to others. The Service equipped me with discipline, resilience, and technical skills that will shape my future. I learnt to balance responsibility with compassion, teamwork with initiative, and faith with action. These experiences have prepared me to serve both my community and my country with integrity and dedication.
