Advancing Green Mobility & Youth Employment: NYS Alumni Engages Greenwheels Africa Kenya on Strategic Partnership Opportunities

On the invitation of the Head of Greenwheels Africa Kenya, Mr. Arturo Osorio, the Head of Corporate Services of the National Youth Service Alumni, Eng. Omollo S.R, together with the Treasurer and Accounting Officer, Eng. S.K. Kurui, paid a courtesy and engagement visit to Greenwheels Africa, one of East Africa’s leading electric mobility companies and a major provider of electric motorbikes and sustainable transport solutions.

The delegation was taken through a productive tour and a comprehensive briefing by Mrs. Mercy Karimi, Head of Customer Operations at Greenwheels Africa Kenya, who provided detailed insights into the company’s operations, training models, hiring systems, assembly processes, battery swapping infrastructure, and service delivery framework, while also highlighting its expansion plans across Kenya and the wider East African region.

In the discussions that followed, Mr. Arturo indicated that the company intends to engage approximately 3,000 National Youth Service Alumni members in meaningful employment opportunities in 2026, and a further 10,000 by 2027 as part of its expansion and scaling strategy.

The engagement also explored the possibility of a trilateral partnership framework between Greenwheels Africa, the National Youth Service Alumni, and the National Youth Service (Alma Mater), focused on strengthening youth empowerment through skills development, green mobility, and sustainable employment pathways. NYS Alumni suggested the possible integration of EV training and certification within the vocational training phase, enabling the service to produce dynamic graduates who are fully equipped and industry-ready to champion electric mobility and contribute effectively to the growing EV ecosystem, a proposal that should be further explored by Greenwheels Africa and the National Youth Service.

This visit marks a significant step toward deepening collaboration that integrates NYS-trained youth into Kenya’s rapidly growing electric mobility and green economy ecosystem.

We appreciate the warm reception and look forward to building a transformative partnership that will unlock opportunities and empower thousands of young people across the country.
