The National Youth Service Alumni has secured 270 employment opportunities for its members under the Affordable Housing Project in Kisumu, marking a significant milestone not only for alumni members but also for society at large in advancing youth employment and national development.
The opportunities, made available through a strategic partnership with a private sector company, are exclusively reserved for NYS Alumni members and target skilled personnel ready for immediate placement. The available positions include 10 Heavy Equipment Drivers, 70 Steel Fitters, 100 Carpenters, 40 Masons, and 50 Welders, all critical to the successful implementation of the housing project.
According to the Head of Corporate Services, Eng. Omollo this initiative reflects the growing impact of NYS Alumni in bridging the gap between training and employment by connecting skilled graduates to meaningful national projects.
“This is a great milestone for our society. It demonstrates the value of structured training and the importance of linking skilled youth to real economic opportunities,” he stated.
The NYS Alumni leadership described the development as a breakthrough in strengthening partnerships that directly benefit communities while empowering young people economically. Members who had earlier expressed interest in affordable housing projects and are currently available have been encouraged to apply for immediate consideration.
The initiative also aligns with the government’s Affordable Housing Programme, which continues to open up large-scale employment opportunities across the construction sector, directly impacting livelihoods and stimulating economic growth.
The alumni further extended appreciation to President William Ruto for championing development programs that are creating sustainable employment pathways for young men and women across the country.
As implementation begins, the NYS Alumni reaffirmed its commitment to expanding such partnerships and ensuring members continue to benefit from emerging opportunities that contribute to national transformation.
